The day after a supermarket was destroyed by fire, planning began to install a tent as a temporary store in the parking lot of the burned building. Time was of the essence, as the store's 100 employees would soon find themselves without benefits or pay and the community was without a supermarket. A fully operational tented supermarket was in place within weeks of the tragedy, complete with the various components such as refrigerated cabinets, computerized cash registers, and automated doors. Additionally, this tent had to meet the strictest of codes including 90 mph wind load requirements. |
